MENA Newswire News Desk: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has declared victory in the 2024 United States presidential election, calling for unity among Americans after surpassing the required 270 electoral votes. Addressing a crowd of supporters in Florida early Wednesday morning, Trump emphasized the need for solidarity and reiterated his iconic campaign slogan, saying, “Let’s make America great again.”

In his remarks, Trump, who will become the 47th President of the United States, expressed optimism about the country’s future under his administration, highlighting that the success of his campaign underscores a widespread desire for national renewal. Trump stated, “Success is going to bring us together, and we are going to start by all putting America first. We have to fix it because together we can truly make America great again for all Americans.”

Trump’s victory came after winning critical battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. While his campaign initially projected around 267 electoral votes based on preliminary counts, his win in these states pushed him over the 270-vote threshold, securing his victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. In addition to the electoral win, Trump claimed a lead in the popular vote, further solidifying his mandate.

Acknowledging those who played significant roles in his victory, Trump expressed gratitude to his family, particularly his wife Melania, and to his children, who supported him throughout the campaign. He also thanked House Speaker Mike Johnson, who was among the first officials to congratulate him on his win. Trump underscored the impact of his campaign in bridging divides among Americans from diverse backgrounds, suggesting it set a foundation for unity moving forward.

Trump also reaffirmed his commitment to key policy initiatives he championed during the campaign. He pledged to pursue reforms aimed at enhancing border security, revitalizing the economy through tax cuts, and addressing immigration challenges—policy areas he argued would benefit all Americans and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

Leaders from around the world have extended congratulatory messages to Trump on his victory. Among those are French President Emmanuel Macron, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, signaling the global attention focused on this significant political shift.

As the transition begins, Trump’s focus on unity and national progress will be closely watched, with both supporters and critics awaiting the impacts of his pledged reforms and the implications of his leadership in the international arena.
